  • An octopus (Octopus cyannea) hunts by making a tent with its legs and skin membranes over reef rubble.  Various fish species wait to capture prey trying to escape the octopus.  It is believed that by changing the color of the skin between its legs to white, the octopus tricks creatures into trying to escape from beneath rubble.

These outsiders from Buton Island, Sulawesi, come here for moths at a stretch to fish at night for small fish...This view is inside one of the huts on stilts over the water where a woman is preparing rice and fish for men preparing to go out fishing for the night.  The jerrycans are their water supply, which must be hauled from a spring.
